(Long Beach) – On Tuesday, April 8th, Rex Richardson became the youngest City Councilman in the history of Long Beach. He was elected in a landslide victory, with over 73% of the vote.
Richardson said, “I am incredibly humbled by Tuesday night’s election results – winning with over 73% of the vote. We ran the complete and positive campaign that North Long Beach deserves, and the results are a clear mandate to lead.”
He continued, “This isn’t just a victory for me; it’s a victory for all of the residents of District 9 who stepped out on faith, knocked on doors, made phone calls, or cast a ballot to continue the great momentum and progress we have in North Long Beach. I am excited to get to work as your next City Councilman for the 9th District. Our journey is just beginning. This District, and our great city, has a bright future, and I’m so excited to continue in the great footsteps of Councilmember Steve Neal by getting to work for the entire community.”
This victory signals a full embrace of the Uptown Renaissance and the community empowerment style of leadership that has been brought to the city council over the last four years.
